My name is Sasha Raskin. I’m a Number 1 Best Selling Co-Author in 12 Countries, a Doctoral student in Counseling Education and Supervision, a coach, a psychotherapist and an adjunct faculty at a graduate counseling program at Naropa University.

I’m almost always fully booked, so my ability to work with individuals is limited. Growing and Building A Private Practice In 2021

All right, hello, everyone. This will be a video that'd be helpful for you if your a counselor or a coach and you want to make sure that 2021 will be your best year ever. And it all starts from a place of planning. Many times when I work with counselors or coaches I notice that the main approach is a trial and error, which is I guess kind of okay when you're just starting out. And if you think about it, about your business, it's kind of like having a GPS and using it in a smart way in terms of if you want to create a specific outcome you need to dial in a specific destination, right? And the more precise the destination is the higher the chances that you'll get there. Now so detailed outcome is super important. And what else is important is a clear structure.

So think about 2020, what were your biggest challenges? For many of the counselors I spoke to and the coaches they took a hit a lot, less calls scheduled with potential clients, some clients had to pause. And now what I see, especially with the participants in our private practice accelerator program, the six-figure practice, is that downhill momentum is gone, right? It's all going up. I noticed it in my private practice as well. My calendar is just filled with consultation calls, which is wonderful because it allows me not just to have new clients but to choose the clients that I'm really excited about working with. And that's great.

So how do you plan your 2021? Thinking about the biggest challenges in 2020 and what are the challenges that might be waiting for you this year as well. For many it's creating new clients. There are so many marketing strategies you could be using to create new clients so it's not really about what's the perfect marketing strategy, it's about actually implementing it, finding the time to do it on a constant basis. So something I notice that would be very helpful is if you plan the time to put in the work actually.

But I would start with thinking about how much time can you put in building your private practice on a daily basis, and starting with a goal that's extremely achievable such as I think 10 minutes a day that's something that anyone can create. And attaching it to a habit that you already have, basically choosing, for example, I know I have lunch at 12:00, right? So at 12:30 how about they just put 10 minutes of work into building my private practice and growing it?

And identifying what's most needed right now - is it having more client, potential clients, find me? Is it making sure that once they find me my website, for example, they actually stay on the website, they actually read the text? So if it's the first one - do I need to invest more time in creating blog posts, for example, or doing interviews for a podcast? If it's converting more visitors on my website to people that would actually be scheduling calls and sending me inquiries, it would make sense to improve my text on the website, right? So figuring out what's the outcome. Do you want more people to reach out to you or do you want more people to find you in the first place?
